Bridge The Gap is a nonprofit organization with a mission to build positive relationships between law enforcement and the community in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Three years after its 2015 inception, Bridge The Gap had an opportunity to provide something extraordinary to local individuals. In 2018, Bridge The Gap was able to provide two local individuals with partial police academy sponsorships. In 2020, Bridge The Gap fully sponsored two individuals to the police academy—including secured employment.
This year, Bridge The Gap would like to sponsor several individuals to the 2022 Police Academy.
All applicants that are chosen will attend the Delta College Police Academy in August 2022 and be a part of the 110th police academy class! The Police Academy is a 17-week training program approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Cadets completing the academy and passing the MCOLES State Examination are eligible for certification as law enforcement officers in Michigan. Through assistance from Bridge The Gap, applicants may have the opportunity for secured employment during and/or after the Police Academy.
